Introduction

Hi, thanks for visiting this site. My name is HPLow aka HP and I am firstly a passionate arowana hobbyist and secondly a contact for arowana farms in the Far East. I have been keeping tropical fish since a young boy in Malaysia and that hobby has gained momentum over the years and I now specialise only in asian arowanas. Arowanas have always captivated me because they are majestic, graceful, beautiful and mythical. I have kept different types of arowanas for more than 30 years and it is only recently that I have started to import them for my own hobby and for close friends in the UK. Needless to say demand has soared in the UK and Europe for this endangered fish, judging by the queries I receive in my mail box.

Currently I source all varieties of the asian arowana on a small scale  from my contacts in the Far East mainly for my own hobby and likeminded friends in the hobby. Unlike the USA and Australia, arowanas are perfectly legal in the EU but subject to strict importation rules (CITES) as they are an endangered species. All my arowanas I import are captive bred in the Far East and microchipped individually (which can be read with a scanner) and comes with a certificate bearing the chip no. and its origin. Arowanas are not run of the mill fish and command high prices. Some serious hobbyists even equate keeping a high end fish as reaching the pinnacle of their fishkeeping hobby!

However I am pleased to say that prices have come down over the years although specialist aquatic shops still sell them  at a hefty price, beyond hobbyists’ reach. Once in a while I am able to supply fish that are excess to my requirements to cover my costs of importing and raising them.

All the arowanas I import are either selected my myself or my business contacts in the Far East and quality is assured. All fish are quickly acclimatised to British tap water (but not the weather!)and are usually feeding the next day.
